I found out yesterday that I didn't get the high school job in this district. I'm really freaking disappointed. A position teaching two sections of college prep 11th and two of honors 12th would have been perfect for me.
The director of secondary ed was nice enough to come down to my room and tell me personally that I wasn't the successful candidate for the position. He told me what I need to work on for other interviews, and he also told me my strengths.
He said, "What I'll remember from your interview is your thoughtful responses to the question about your must-teach novels. I was very impressed with your answers to that one."
If "thoughtful" = "panicked and half-BS'ed," then yes, it was very thoughtful. Thank you, sir.
