I'm a winner, I am.
I am so freaking tired this morning. I swear I spent all of my sleeping hours having school-related anxiety dreams last night. I must have dreamed every possible nightmare situation -- students mouthing off to me in front of administrators, kids making out in the middle of class, me losing projects, kids disappearing on field trips, a huge fight in my classroom, etc.
Then I must have turned off my alarm, because I overslept by more than an hour. I miraculously woke up twenty minutes before I have to leave the house. (I can't even imagine what would have happened if I hadn't woken up then!! Seriously, I'm getting chills just imagining that right now.) At first I was so panicked and bewildered that I couldn't even remember which school I was supposed to go to and what time I had to be there. So I ran around the house and got ready in twenty minutes. Of course it was one of those mornings where everything I put on either didn't fit or was wrinkled. Without looking down, I can't even tell you which pants I have on right now. No idea.
I wasn't even close to being late for school, luckily. On the way here, I did wonder what the hell I usually do with an hour and twenty minutes in the morning. I think making breakfast and getting lunch together takes up a big chunk of my time. Letting Lily out and feeding her takes time too, and of course I didn't even do any of that this morning.
Other than this morning, the long-term sub position has been going well so far. I've only been here since last Monday, but I like it. I can't get over how friendly, helpful, and outgoing the other teachers are. So many of them went out of their way to stop by and introduce themselves or to make me copies of their lesson plans. It's such a nice change compared to some of my experiences during daily subbing! The 7th and 8th graders are sweet and also very helpful, although I think they could be quite rowdy if I give them an opportunity. I''m sure things could get interesting as we near the end of the school year.
And now it's time to go back to eating the yogurt I grabbed this morning with the random fork I found in a desk drawer. Yumtastic.
