I'm a lazy blogger.

So what's new in Me-town? Halloween was pretty uneventful. It didn't really seem like Halloween because there wasn't anything really ceremonial surrounding it. It wasn't too exciting. We had a couple trick-or-treaters at the house, but I don't know the neighborhood kids anymore. I spent most of the night rewatching The Great Gatsby and writing questions for a film worksheet. Oh, and I dressed up for school -- my co-op and I both wore Halloween t-shirts and witch hats. The boys kept stealing my hat from me though. Silly teenaged boys.

I always post about the latest Homestarloween cartoon, and I totally forgot it this year! I thought it was much better than last year's. My favorite part was Pom-Pom dressed up as Molto Mario. I think Jess and I are the only Homestar fans who understand that reference, but hey, that makes it even funnier. Oh, and the review of this year's fan costumes is pretty hilarious too. I loved the Mario reference. (That's Mario Mario -- not Mario Batali again!)

After this week, I have only five weeks of student teaching left! That's hard to believe. I already get sad thinking about saying goodbye to these classes. I love my students so much. I've had so much fun with them, and it's hard to think about starting over in another school. I have a feeling that the student teacher of the teacher who's retiring in January will get her position by default. I would really like to have that position, but I'm looking elsewhere just in case. I called fifteen county districts yesterday, but none of them have anything opening in January. They all need subs though. I'm going to try to finish my paperwork this weekend.

Things are going well with wedding planning. I (unofficially) picked my gown, and we know which photographer we're using. We're working on the caterer, and I think I'm going to look at bridesmaid dresses this weekend. Things are coming together nicely, which makes me happy. We already had the date, the church, and the reception site chosen, so I guess we're doing pretty well!

Today I finished reading The Dogs Who Found Me. It's an entertaining memoir by a guy who has adopted, fostered, or found shelter for many dogs -- mostly pit bulls and rottweilers. It was really touching and also quite funny. The poor guy was in New York for 9/11 AND in New Orleans for Katrina. It was interesting to read about those tragedies from the perspective of a pet owner who wanted nothing but to save his dogs. I liked the layout of the book -- longer chapters (mostly about individual dogs) sandwiched between very short informative chapters about caring for pets. As I said, the book is very entertaining and moving. I definitely recommend it. I'd like to read more by Ken Foster.

For the past two days, I've been nauseated for some unknown reason. Occasionally my stomach just decides to rebel against me. It rebels without a cause. Luckily it isn't "dammit, I'm about to throw up" nausea, but it's still annoying. I think it should stop. Drinking flat Coke today helped a bit, but now I'm all shaky from the caffeine. I can't win.

I hope everyone who was able to vote did so today. Mom and I went around dinnertime, and it wasn't crowded at all. I didn't feel passionate about any one of the candidates, but I figured I should do my part and vote anyway. I did a bit of research so I at least had an idea of what I was doing. All I really care about is beating the freaking Republicans. Seriously.

Okay, time for some toast. Then it's going to bed early time.
