"The Carpal Tunnel of Love"

I just downloaded Fall Out Boy's newest single from iTunes, and I'm sadly disappointed in it. To me it seems like they wrote the lyrics and the melody without planning how to coordinate the two. The rhythm of the words is awkward and choppy, even though Patrick's voice sounds as great as it usually does. I like the instrumentation of the track -- the percussion that mimics cannonfire is strangely effective. Even the warbling background vocals are amusing. However, there's a section at the end with random screaming that doesn't fit the rest of the song at all. It really sounds like a weak and desperate solution to filling the last minute of the song.

So yeah, I'm not impressed. Maybe it'll grow on me, but I'm hoping the new album doesn't all sound like this track.
